Social Services

The VIP Center offers social services to clients and family members addressing psychological and social issues related to vision loss.

The center has a full-time social worker on staff to provide weekly group and family counseling.
(Individual counseling is also available by appointment)

These counseling sessions focus on the adjustments to blindness from the perspective of the individual experiencing the loss. Separate support groups are offered to family members, allowing them to freely share their thoughts and concerns with others in similar situations.
(Strict confidentiality is maintained.)

Individual and or Family counseling provides:

  • Clients and family members an opportunity to explore their concerns.
  • Advocacy, self advocacy, and problem solving skills development.
  • Sessions are approximately 10-12 weeks.

During assessments, when appropriate, referrals to our partner agencies are given.

Information regarding other programs and services is available at all times.
