Activities of Daily Living/ Independent Living Skills TrainingResearch Shows:
Our group sessions are a relaxed yet focused atmosphere featuring “low tech”, common-sense solutions for making life more livable despite visual impairment. As you advance through the sessions you will have an opportunity for individual attention within the class setting or in private sessions if you choose. The Activities of Daily Living program is alive and well in it svelte, trimmed down form. We reduced from 16 weeks (Tues & Thurs 9:30 – 2:30) to 6 weeks (same time frame) partly because the Adjustment to Blindness portion - which used up 32 hours of those 16 weeks - is now a stand-alone program. When dealing with the frustrations of visual impairment, it is comforting to be able to spend time with other people with similar eye conditions and share the challenges and the SOLUTIONS for those frustrations. So what do we actually teach? Independent Living Skills Training involves learning new techniques for daily living tasks such as:
